Over to Japan – Trick N Try 2012

This video takes us over to Japan and it looks like the JPWA (Japanese Professional Windsurfing Association) is creating some strong talent.  This video is from there recent freestyle event the 2012 JPWA Trick’N Try congratulations to the winner, Hiroumi Yoshida(JP/Neilpryde). Video features clips from the event including crashing, unfortunately it doesn’t include subtitles for the Japanese, and the editing is slim, but enjoy anyways!!

The Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association is hosting their annual Windfest Weekend fundraising event – the only windsurfing demo event in the Pacific Northwest, USA – on July 7 and 8 in Hood River, Oregon.

The event will consist of unlimited windsurfing and SUP gear demos, free clinics from local Pros, free beginner lessons, raffles and prizes, food, beer and wine and a Saturday evening free outdoor concert.

It is great for first-time to expert windsurfers as well as the whole family. More information can also be found at: gorgewindsurfing.org or their facebook page.

Storm Rider 2012 Documentary

The Red Bull storm chase isn’t the only storm event happing, Just perhaps the biggest and most extreme!  Lots of windsurfers ride storms all the time, looking for big wind and big waves.

I don’t know tons about this event in Israel, but here is what Vimeo had to say:

2 Dates Confirmed for PWA World Tour Events

A few Dates have just been confirmed for the PWA World Tour.  The Wave event in Pozo Gran Canaria is confirmed for July 2nd to 8th, and the Freestyle and Slalom Gran Slam in Fuerteventura is confirmed for July 20th – 30th.  Although the Gran Canaria event is still not fully confirmed as well as the Tenrife World Cup.

Kai Lenny Crosses Lake Michigan

In a test of mental fitness and physical stamina against the whims of open water, 19-year-old Red Bull Athlete Kai Lenny made Lake Michigan his next conquest by crossing the lake by wind surfing, starting at Sturgeon Bay, WI and landing in Frankfort, MI, this past Friday, May 18, 2012. Lake Michigan has seen its array of boats, jet skis, swimmers and sailors through the years, but this was the first time anyone has windsurfed from the west to east coast of Lake Michigan, in a seemingly impossible water craft challenge.

Défi Wind 2012

Defi Wind is the biggest windsurfing event ever.  Unforunatley 2012 didn’t deliver the strong winds Defi Wind in know for.  Despite the lack of strong wind, it looks like it was a great event, with everyone enjoying the fun racing.

Training Défi

This project is supporting 10 upcoming windsurf talents in the age between 12-23 years to give them a chance to get one step closer of being a windsurf pro.

One week of training, photo-shooting and coaching, guided by an expert crew including windsurf pros like Flo Jung, Boujma Guilloul or snowboarding Olympic gold medalist Nicola Thost . It is a unique opportunity to learn from them and to get important advises for a successful windsurf career.

This camp is set up for freestyle- and wavesailors in order to give them a chance to present themself beside competitions. Every participant gets a specific coaching in terms of training, media work and dealing with sponsors.
