Mattia Pedrani released this wave clip from Masirah Island yesterday. Here’s what he had to say.
The main reason I went down to Masirah Island was to find some proper wave conditions, since I can pretty much freestyle whenever I want at Lake Garda.
Murphy’s law, though, worked its magic on me once again, and bottomline I only managed to score a couple sessions with “proper” wave conditions, while the remaining 10 days was just 10-15 knots, really offshore and 1-1.5m waves.
Since I wanted to go as hard as I could, I ended up having wayyyy more goyters and takas than actual hits on proper waves…but hey, I think the video came out pretty nice, also cause the images fit perfectly on the beat I produced using FLstudio9,called
“S.O.W.”, available for downloading on my soundcloud. Turn it uppp..

Day 6 of the PWA KIA Cold Hawaii World Cup saw the superstars of the wave sailing world deliver a spectacular display, as the City Lift Super Session took place at 1pm. Light starboard tack winds and small waves provided ideal conditions for the competition, as three heats were run before the final, with the top two men from each heat advancing.
The super session final consisted of three English sailors, John Skye (RRD / Mystic / MFC), Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins), Jamie Hancock (Tabou / Gaastra), the Brazilian boys Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing / MFC) and Kauli Seadi (JP / NeilPryde), and finally Spain’s, Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North).
In the light winds and difficult jumping conditions Victor Fernandez was able to gain an early lead as he landed a tabletop forward, however his lead was short lived as Marcilio ‘Brawzinho’ Browne landed an amazing air chachoo. The Brazilian then went one better as he rotated his way through an outstanding one footed backloop to cement his place at the top. Browne’s fellow countryman, Kauli Seadi, completed the top three as he also landed a brilliant air chachoo to wow the crowds on the beach. The deteriorating wind in the final minutes of the heat meant that none of the sailors were able to land any more moves, and Marcilio Browne was crowned the super session champion.
The fourth day of the PWA KIA Cold Hawaii World Cup saw the double elimination completed as Thomas Traversa (Tabou / Gaastra) took on the 2011 and 2012 PWA Wave Champion, Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) in the super final. With the conditions looking marginal throughout the morning the sailors and the crowds had to wait for a few hours before the action began. Shortly before 1pm the wind picked up a touch and after a brief warm-up session to check the conditions head judge, Duncan Coombs, made the call to begin the final. With the light winds and waves, the super final consisted of the best two waves over a duration of twenty-five minutes. This is a film produced during the KIA cold hawaii PWA World Cup in 2012.
The third day of the KIA Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup proved to be one of, if not the most dramatic day of the 2012 PWA World Tour. The sailors and the committee arrived at the beach for 7am in anticipation of the forecast wind, and unlike yesterday, the wind Gods delivered. The day saw an epic marathon, as the competitors battled it out over the duration of twelve hours, as the single elimination was completed by the early morning, which saw a maiden elimination victory for Thomas Traversa (Tabou / Gaastra). Meanwhile, in the double elimination, there is only the super final to sail, between Thomas Traversa and Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins). The biggest news of the day though, without doubt, belongs to Köster, after he came storming back through the double elimination to secure his second PWA Wave world title in a row, at the age of just eighteen. This is a film produced during the KIA cold hawaii PWA World Cup in 2012.

Day fopur saw the completion of the double elimination with Thomas Traversa (Tabou / Gaastra) took on the 2011 and 2012 PWA Wave Champion, Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins). Traversa took an early advantage scoring a nice wave with a super nice frontside, into backside followed by another frontside hit, as Kosters wave closed out. Traversa than scored his second wave, hitting hard with some backside smacks, than finishing it off with a smooth frontside. Kopster worked his way up wind, to score the wave of the heat, starting with a wave 360, followed by some front and backside hits, to score a 7.88. Traversa scored one more wave and edged out the current World Champion by 0.87 points.
Thomas Traversa had this to say after winning “I’m super happy, I managed to find one really good wave and then a couple of ok waves. The wind was very, very, very light, but for once I had the advantage of being light. It feels crazy and unreal at the moment.”

Expectations for day 2 at the 2012 Kia Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup were high. Storms disrupted the wind patterns, and a tornado even rolled through. Unfortunately no heats were completed. With the competition in standby mode for the entire day the PWA caught up with the local hero, Kenneth Danielsen (F2 / Simmer) for a quick chat about yesterday and the prospects for tomorrow. Camille Juban Wins the 2012 AWT Hatteras Wave Jam
The final day of the Hatteras Wave Jam saw a solid swell hit the Island. With only a few hours left in the contest window the wind gods smiled on the AWT once again providing incredible port-tack conditions to run the Pro, Women and Youth heats… plus an Amateur/Masters Expression Session for a Chinook Pro-1 Carbon boom.
Pro heats were set for 15-minutes and the judges score cards were quickly filled up as there were plenty of waves providing long and rip-able rides. The final heat came down to an epic battle between Camille Juban, Fabrice Beaux and Morgan Noireaux. It was a super close contest with Juban’s Goiter (photo above) giving him the edge over the smooth sailing Beaux and slashy Noireaux.
The first day of the Kia Cold Hawaii PWA Worldcup is complete. The best wavesailors in the world got warmed up with 6 more days to go riding on the now legendatry North Sea in Klittmøller. Winds where on the lighter side, as the riders began to battle in the single elimination. Brunch, Koester and Ferdanaz all impressed as did other riders expected to advance, advancing, with no big upsets or surprises.
