The first ever PWA Excellence Awards have finally come and after much deliberation from the panel of judges. Action was seen from all over the World with crashes, crazy moves, huge waves and an amazing collection of short videos being submitted by both amateurs and the pros. Al this action one thing is for sure, windsurfing is very much alive and a global sport, from a massive wall of water at Jaws to an inland lake in the middle of nowhere. Andre Paskowski has officially announced that the production of his new windsurfing movie has started. With the announcement he has already confirmed the title as ‘Below the surface’ and announced the world premier, scheduled for this year’s RENO Windsurf World Cup Sylt near the end of September.
“The time has come. We have started to work on a new Windsurfing Movie. I am super happy that in my very difficult Situation am able to go for 1 more big DVD, Full HD Project. It just all came nice together. A nice Team, the Support of my Girlfriend and fully motivated Riders made the decision totally easy. I am looking forward to shoot and travel and see some great place and great windsurfing. At the moment I am on Maui to start shooting. The Wind has been real bad but it looks like it is changing now.” – Andre
To realize ‘Below The Surface’ Andre Paskowski and his production company FRUITLOOP PRODUCTIONS are looking for sponsors. „In the past the production costs were merely covered by private financing and donations from fans,“ Andre explains the situation. „This time we are looking for official partners who support ‚Below the Surface’“. I have really good memories of Simmer as I landed my first frontloops and pushloops on their sails a few years ago in Pozo. In March 2013, Victorian windsurfer Craig Hollins ventured to Lake George in South Australia to attempt a world distance record. After about two hours he had already racked up 100kms. Around 9pm after 14 hours he had sailed 538kms and set a new World Record! Watch the whole story in this video here.

Ben Proffitt had a pretty bad crash while trying to pull off a tweaked pushloop at Coronation Beach, Geraldton Western Australia Yesterday, February 18th. Ben Proffitt is the UK Wave Champion, top PWA windsurfer and in recent year teh announcer for PWA’s live stream. The crash resulted in a pretty serious should separation check out the x-ray below.
