Day five of the PWA Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival delivered more absolutely epic conditions. As the wind rose above fifty knots for the second day in a row and the waves continued to pummel into the bay of Pozo. Iballa Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) created a piece of windsurfing history today, as she became the first person to defeat her sister, Daida Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne), in Pozo since 1999. The prize giving ceremony that followed was a hugely emotional affair as the twins celebrated the success of the event as well. Meanwhile, Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins), successfully defended his Pozo title by defeating Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North) in the men’s winners’ final to complete an enthralling day.

Looks like Italian freestyler Mattia Pedrani has created a new move. Its basically a bob and a clew first willy skipper combined.
Mattia: “Necessity is the mother of invention. So what do you do when you’re bored cause the wind is too light to go for big tricks…well, you improvise. That’s what this is. Mix a Bob and a Clew First willy skipper and that’s what you get. The BRAND NEW BOBBY SKIPPER. I had this idea by myself, I started trying it from scratch, crashed the first 8 times and then got it on film. So I claim it as mine. For sure some smartass is gonna pop up sayin his cousin did it planing 10 years ago, but I don’t really care…whatever, keep talkin, just like Germany is doin with Balotelli =).”
