If you’re not familiar with the NeilPryde Ø-Grandprix competition, let me quickly break it down for you: it is a windsurfing and kiteboarding series of long distance races that take place around the Danish Islands. Anyone, on any type of gear can participate. So kiterboarders and windsurfers gather and take part in a fun competition.
A total of 47 riders enjoyed 18-24 knots of wind and blue skies, during the fantastic 25-kilometre race around the beautiful island Venø. Winner Sebastian Kornum has beaten the record with an incredible 25 knots of average speed on his JP Formula and Neil Pryde EVO 4. He was followed by Danni Jakobsen and another JP/NeilPryde teamrider Christian Justesen on third.
The event also allowed time and perfect conditions for a full freestyle competition and a speed trial measured with a true police detector. In freestyle Rasmus Øgelund won the competition with Jonas Knudsen in second and Sebastian Kornum in third. In speed, Danni Jakobsen made the fastest ahead of Justesen.

The Following was posted on the US Windsurfing Facebook page under an hour ago:
US Windsurfing regrets to inform you that the 2012 US Windsurfing Nationals in Hood River will NOT be taking place. A variety of organizational issues has lead us to make this difficult decision. Rather than continuing to struggle to pull together a poorly organized event, we decided that it would be best to cancel the event far enough in advance for travel plans to be adjusted. We deeply regret the inconvenience and trouble that this will cause to the people who have already made unchangeable arrangements to attend. At least you still be in a fantastic place for windsurfing at a great time of year. The Formula windsurfing National champion will instead be crowned during the Formula Windsurfing North American Championships that are being held in San Francisco from July 19-22. We also encourage you to attend the American Windsurfing Tour San Carlos Cactus Cup wave event which will be held from July 28-August 4 in Baja, Mexico. Planning is underway for the 2013 US Windsurfing Nationals, we will announce the location soon. Thank you all for your membership and support of windsurfing events in the United States.

Robby Naish is the patron of Red Bull Storm Chase. He coined the tagline for the event, which still holds true: “Windsurfing in storm surf separates the men from the boys.” And he’s still one of the best riders out there.
Will he face the storms himself? Find out more in this Q&A from the Red Bull Storm Chase.

The team also entered the first ever European Tow-in championship: 30 riders, 3 evenings of qualifications, and a 10 rider’s final on the last evening, with Julien and Nicolas in 10th and 7th places.

“This event was sponsored by the ONA (National Office Anti Drugs) main focus are for our future kids in supporting, educating and directing them threw the right path in life without drugs and alcohol, this was the first time in a great while all the champs where all together and it was great to see every athlete putting their effort to improve our El Yaque which is ranked top 3 destinations in the world for Windsurf and Kite!
During the first two days of the slalom pro it was a battle between Master Alexis Carache (who tought me how to windsurf) Ricardo Campello and I, we all 3 had an equal tie! When it came down to the 3rd day of competition I gained more confidance and was more in tuned with my equipment, with winds gusting up to 28 knots using my 92L SL2 AHD and my 7.3 GPS Hot Sails Maui, I secured 1st place after the 3rd day but still with a tight score together with Ricardo and Alexis! They were both sailing unbalevable
I don’t know what happened on the 4th and last day! The conditions where great, my starts where perfect exiting with hi speed I managed to win all 5 rounds that day with a great lead of almost a half a bouy ahead of everyone! I was very happy with my performance and most of all that the whole event brought every one closer and with the positive energy of all to keep our El Yaque progressing and giving the best example we can to our future kids! And keep on being a World Champion destination!”
