The third day of the KIA Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup proved to be one of, if not the most dramatic day of the 2012 PWA World Tour. The sailors and the committee arrived at the beach for 7am in anticipation of the forecast wind, and unlike yesterday, the wind Gods delivered. The day saw an epic marathon, as the competitors battled it out over the duration of twelve hours, as the single elimination was completed by the early morning, which saw a maiden elimination victory for Thomas Traversa (Tabou / Gaastra). Meanwhile, in the double elimination, there is only the super final to sail, between Thomas Traversa and Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins). The biggest news of the day though, without doubt, belongs to Köster, after he came storming back through the double elimination to secure his second PWA Wave world title in a row, at the age of just eighteen. This is a film produced during the KIA cold hawaii PWA World Cup in 2012.

Our first video of the day comes from what could well be a champion of the future. At only 12 years old, Loick Lesauvage is landing back loops, forwards on both tacks and going for frontside 360’s, amazing stuff from someone so young. Here is a video to see some of the action for yourself…
A little helmet cam action from the Pritchard Wave Camp during July in Punta San Carlos.
Starboard brings us a new Tiki Documentary, this time featuring the James Hooper and the NuEvo. Not our favorite, to much talking head instead of action.
Omar Sanchez at his homespot Pozo Izquierdo.
Ben Newson (AUS-23) from Perth, Western Australia is a 28 year old firefighther and windsurfing addict. He likes wavesailing and has been competing on the PWA tour since 2011. Ben has been in Europe since May and is already a bit home sick, missing Australia and waves. Now he edited a very nice clip, which shows some of his best clips he collected during his journeys.
Enjoy some footage from the last 2 years wave sailing in Australia and Maui. It was mostly filmed with a canon 60D and a go pro Hd2. I used Adobe premiere pro cs 5.5, Photoshop and After Effects to edit the video. Its called home sickness because I’ve been travelling for the last 5 months and started making the video on a smellly ferry going between Feurteventura and Tenerife. As I started going through the clips I had the combination of fumes, the rocking of the boat and watching epic waves made me want to go home. Bring on summer. – Ben Newson
