Four riders are advancing to mission #3 in the Redbull Storm Chase. The four riders are Marcilio Browne, Leon Jamaer, Dany Bruch and Thomas Traversa!
It was an intence last day of action as riders battled for the four spots to mission #3. Riders launched them selves into huge aerials, big back loops and powerful turns.

The PWA slalom tour returns with some high speed action tomorrow in Alacati, Turkey.
From the 19th to the 24th August both the men’s and women’s slalom fleets shall be returning to action for more warp speed racing as they head to the stunning turquoise waters of Alacati, Turkey. The men will be recommencing battle for the first time since competing in Costa Brava – in June – whilst the women will be fighting it out for the final time this season.
Six days of furious slalom as the women’s title race draws to its conclusion in their final event of the year, whilst the men’s title campaign continues to gather pace in their penultimate event of the season as they battle it out for those crucial world tour points.
Who to watch for the men? Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) will enter the event as the favorite, and currently leads the rankings. His fellow teammate Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) currently sits in second, with Alberto Menegatti (Starboard / Point-7) wrapping up the top three. Also sitting in the top ten are some big names no doubt looking to improve there position. Notably Micah Buzianis (JP / MauiSails), Josh Angulo (Angulo / Gun Sails), Finian Maynard (RRD / Avanti) and more.
On the women’s side, things will be intense as this event decides the titles for the 2013 slalom season. Karin Jaggi (Patrik / Severne) currently leads and looks to wipe the bad taste of last season out of her mouth after she narrowly missed the title. Looking to upset the leader is Twenty-two year old Delphine Cousin (JP / NeilPryde) currently occupies second place. Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / Gaastra / Mystic / Chriz Benz / Maui Ultra Fins) the 2011 title holders joins the tour late having missed the first event. With so much at stake the week ahead promises to be an intense event for the women.
Stay tuned for more action as it unfold in Alacati.
The open day of Mission #2 of the Red Bull Storm Chase saw a full round of competition completed in challenging side-on, starboard tack conditions at ‘Temm’ in the North West of Tasmania. Strong winds reaching 64 knots and large swell up to 25-foot facesmeant it was game on!
Temma
A series of reefs near Temma Harbour offer good side-shore (wind from right) options in North or North West wind directions. The access is good with plenty of grassy areas for the crew infrastructure and athletes to prepare their equipment. Having a harbour and slipways nearby aid the safety backup crew and provide further launching options for competitors in large surf conditions.
The Heats
Competitors were divided into two man heats, with a twenty minute duration. Head Judge Duncan Coombs made the call for competitors to be towed out of the more sheltered bay behind the main foreshore and beyond the wind line in the middle of the bay.
Instead of a knockout format, the scoring system counted each riders best two jumps and wave rides, the total of which will be used to determine the overall winner following each further round.
The Action
The first heat between Leon Jamaer and Marcilio Browne was cancelled as both riders struggled to get into position for set waves or to line-up jumps. Rainbows followed heavy showers and, as the wind built, peaking at 64 knots it was game-on!
At the end of the day Thomas Travers dominated and took the highest score for wave rides and jumps. Head judge Coombs said, “said “Thomas rode the surf in the most critical situations and looked totally in control – it was like he was playing with the storm while others were struggling in comparison”.
Marcilio Browne also impressed with a very hight tweaked push loop and some solid wave scores. Leon Jamaer went for gnarly wave 360s off vertical sections, showing little fear for the insane conditions.
In another heat Dany Bruch ended up on the rocks after getting caught by a massive set. Luckily the only casualty was his sail

Congragulations to Philip Koster winning the mens division in the 2013 PWA Tenerife World Cup and Daida Moreno on the women’s side.
Philip Koster faced up against Vistor Fernandez in the final for an epic battle. Both riders pulled double forwards, but Koster’s style and a nice stall gave him the edge. Koster just edged Fernandez on the waves as well, managing a 360, taka and nice lip smack on one wave to put him ahead.
Top Four Men
Women’s Side
It was another intense battle between the two sisters, Iballa and Daida Moreno. Iballa came back to take the first final with some big back loops and nice hits. Daida was yet to loose in the competition so Iballa would have to beat her sister one more time. However int he super final Daida showed a little more in both waves and jumps, winning the PWA Tenerife World Cup.

An epic day as howling winds and big waves bombard the shores of El Medano
The fourth day of the PWA Tenerife World Cup saw the best conditions of the week, with winds between 35 to 42 knots and big waves bombarded the shores of El Medano. Philip Koster and Daida Ruano Moreno come out on top after the single elimination
day 3 at the 2013 PWA Tenerife World Cup saw the much anticipated conclusion of the men’s and women’s single elimination’s. The top PWA riders put on an amazing display as winds hit 40 knots and some of the best waves of the contest so far rolled through. The single elimination wrapped up with Philip Köster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) and Daida Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) claim the opening victories of the week. At 2:15pm the men’s double elimination began allowing the majority of the first round to be completed, before both the wind and wave conditions deteriorated.
In heat 14 Philip Koster produced a not worthy jump and move of the day as he he landed an absolutely outrageous stalled double forward, completely ankle dry.

The conclusion of the single elimination is on the horizon
The second day of competition in Tenerife required patience from both the sailors and the judges as marginal conditions teased the competitors until quarter to four. Earlier in the day an attempt was made to complete the resail of women’s heat ten but light winds soon brought an end to the proceedings. Eventually though good, but sometimes tricky, conditions did prevail with winds of 22-30 knots and small to medium sized waves rolling through the bay of El Medano, meaning that wave selection played a key role today.

A tribute to Andre as the contest kicks off in Tenerife
Day 1 of the 2013 PWA Tenerife World Cup kicked off 25 – 30 knots of wind and head high waves. Riders took some time to warm up in the morning. After 2 minutes of silence to pay respects to Andre Paskowski who lost his battle with cancer yesterday, the competition began at 1:30. First on the docket were the men’s trials followed by the men’s single elimination getting completed and all but the final two heats of the women’s single elimination.

Tragic news struck the windsurfing world today, as word circulated that Andre Paskowski lost his battle with cancer. Andre Paskowski was a World class freestyler and created many award winning films that highlighted the best windsurfers on the plant. He was a true inspiration and a brave person.
Andre will be missed and was a great ambassador for windsurfing. He will be remembered. RIP.
Andre took a moment to say goodbye in the touching letter below:
Hello my friends,
It’s time for me to say goodbye. Over the last years we have given everything, but this was not one I could win, not even with the great support I got from all of you. Your comments and compassion have greatly helped me and my family during this difficult time. It has given me energy and motivated me to continue fighting and makes me feel that my public dealing with this illness was right.
In the first months I was able to build on the great strength reserves in my body which enabled me to pursue my passion of windsurfing almost fully, despite chemo and surgeries. During this time, the chances of complete recovery were still very high, but with such a diagnosis, I tried to organise my life anew.
In the 10 years of my professional windsurfing career, I rarely spent more than 30 days a year in Germany. My parents almost spent more time with me at the airport than at home in Hamburg. This is why, besides putting a lot of energy into my last film project, I’ve tried to spend as much time as possible with them. I got to show them the most beautiful places in the world, show them why I loved my job so much and make them acquainted with many of my good friends. We enjoyed this time very much and are thankful that we were able to experience it.
My greatest joy was the I met my girlfriend Carolina and was allowed to spend the best time of my life with her. Despite the fact that by this time my disease was already advanced, we went on some great trips and didn’t leave a single wave unridden. She was by my side until the end, something that demands great strength and for which I am grateful.
Carolina and a few other friends will finish my last film “Below The Surface”. My Facebook page will stay on to feature news about this project in the future.
It is very hard to let go forever, I hope my family, my friends and especially for Carolina, that they will soon get over the pain.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, be nice to one another and enjoy every moment in life.
Aloha, Andre
The wave sailors are armed and ready to light up the waves of Tenerife
From the 3rd to the 9th of August the elite of the wave sailing world shall be descending upon the beautiful shores of El Medano, Tenerife. This year will see the event returning for the third year in a row and with the current forecast on offer, it looks as though the week ahead will truly be a spectacle to behold.
Situated on the Southeast coast of Tenerife, El Medano is located only a few kilometers away from the South airport making it a highly accessible, but more importantly, world-class location. El Medano has become synonymous with windsurfers all over the world thanks to its stunning golden sand beaches, reliable trade winds and of course its pumping waves, which the pros will be looking to use to their full effect as they launch themselves into the most radical stunts on the planet, in order to win the adulation of the judges.
With his extra local knowledge and guile – Alex Mussolini (Tabou / Gaastra) – will be looking to go one better than last year, when he finished in second place. The Spaniard out scored Koster on the wave in the double elimination winners’ final in 2012, so if he can find a couple of big jumps to match, Mussolini could well find himself at the top of the podium. Expect to see silky smooth wave rides combined with staggering frontside wave 360s and takas galore as he looks to make a strong start to the season.
As the last man to beat Koster – Thomas Traversa (Tabou / Gaastra) – knows exactly what it takes to beat the reigning world champion. With slightly less emphasis on jumping in Tenerife – than Pozo – the Frenchman will be hoping to use this as an advantage. Expect to see almost unrivaled wave riding and rocket-propelled backloops as Traversa sets his sights ever higher.
