Nabisco Slalom and Speed Trials – Fuerteventura – 1986

we throw it back a little old school this afternoon with this video.

The Fuerteventura slalom and speed trials of 1986 at Sotavento was a pinnacle event in breaking the fastest speed previously set by Crossbow. The sailors who broke this speed became known as the Crossbow killers. Sailors of the day were Fred Haywood, Pascal Maka, Eric Beale on the mens side with Patti Whitcomb and Britt Dunkerbeck on the ladies side.
The event was sponsered by Nabisco and organised by Julian Kendall.
The tandem speed was also the most impressive with Greisseman and Bertin hitting just over 35 knots. The forty knot barrier was well insight!!
Thanks to Paddy Paine for making this video and other early Speed Trial Videos.

Cruising in Turkey

It’s not to often we bring you slalom clips, but here is a nice one from Kurosh Kiani in Alacati.

After yet an amazing windsurfing world cup in the town of Alacati, I stayed for some more days to enjoy the calm winds and conditions of this amazing spot, and to try out my new Fanatic Falcon boards. On this particular day the wind was light but enough to have a great time cruising around the bay.
Big thanks to my buddy Sean O´brien for shooting couple of clips of me again. – Kurosh Kiani

PWA Sylt Highlights Part 3 – Slalom

Slalom highlights from the PWA World Cup Sylt 2012! It’s all about speed! .Antoine Albeau is looking strong and disaster for world champion Björn Dunkerbeck.

Bjorn Dunkerbeck Sylt Crash

Bjorn Dunkerbeck suffered a mast break during the Slalom heats yesterday which definitely set him back. Heres the crash, first in normal time than slow speed, and you can really see where the mast snaps.

Day 4 PWA Sylt – Albeau Strong and Diaster for Dunkerbeck in Slalom

On the third day the slalom sailors finally took to the water, as winds ranged from 8 – 20 knots. Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) enjoyed an excellent day as the Frenchman won back-to-back bullets to enhance his title challenge. It was a completely different story for the current leader of the slalom tour though, Bjorn Dunkerbeck (Starboard / Severne / Mystic / Dunkerbeck Eyewear / Chris Benz), as he missed out on the first winners’ final and then suffered an untimely catapult in the second final of the day. Dunkerbeck will will be hoping for a miracle if he hopes to maintain his title.
