The 2014 Loco Pro is a 4 batten freestyle sail by MauiSails, and is the signature sail of Bonaire Freestyle Pro Taty Frans. A brand new design developed for Taty Frans, but carries over some ideas from the popular Mutant with adaptions for the higher aspect ratio of a freestyle sail, to feel super light and responsive in the hands. Available in sizes from 4.0 to 5.6.
Check out the video as head sail designer Artur Szpunar walks you through the sail with some action from Taty Frans.
Tonky Frans was in Tarifa to have a good time before the competition started.

A small but hi-tech custom board manufacturer from Slovenia, that started out in a garage of Luka Jureš. Lukas linked his passion for windsurfing with enthusiasm for handwork and knowledge gathered from different custom boards workshops on Tenerife (Canary islands), to make his first board ever in his home garage. The instant success and praise form his friends led him to create FLIKKAboards.
Check out there latest clip here, which gives us a view into some of what goes into building there boards, and the wave riding featuring Andreas Oleadndersson (S66).

For the racer who is looking at the lightest and potentially fastest TR-9, we are again offering a version using the well tested ODL04 Technora™ laminate. A significant modification to the body panel layout of the TR-9 XT locates materials in a way that best combines the “crisp” feel of monofilm in the lower body with the light weight and softness of Technora™ in the upper sail body and leech. Test results of the new layout have shown significant advantage over previous constructions.

RRD’s Firestorm program has seen some changes in the shapes this year. Based on the scooprocker of the X-fire boards, the thinner volume configuration and narrower tail allow the firestorm to have excellent acceleration but comfortable when freeriding.
We’ve riden the older version and it was excellent. Well we haven’t ridden this brand new board, we’ve tested both the firestorm and X-fire, and think it’s safe to say that if you want to drag race your friends and blast around at full speed without the demands of a full on Slalom board this should be near the top of your list.
David Ezzy owner and founder of Ezzy Sails sits down and tells us a story about how he got into sail making and when he moved to Maui. Stay tuned for more!
For all you gear junkies here is Keith Teboul introduces you to the 2013 Thruster LS which replaced the Single Fin from last year. The LS stands for Levi Siver, but that doesn’t mean you have to be pro to ride it, a v bottom helps make it fast and smooth absorbing chop, combined with a fast rocker and pulled in tail to help turning. If you’re looking for your first multi-fin board this would be a great choice.

Looking for a new radical wave board? Keith Teboul pro shaper of Quatro talks us through the 2013 KT Quad, designed for side to side offshore and pure down the line wavesailing.
The Legend remains MauiSails flagship side-shore wave sail. A marginally forward oriented draft provides ease of transition to driving bottom turns to neutral when coming off the top. This ability for control crosses over making it a great sail for gnarly, gusty high wind areas like the Gorge and Pozo.
New for this year, MauiSails is using a exclusive light weight gradient X-Ply in the upper portion of the sail. The gradient X-Ply has excellent strength to weight properties and looks cool in the sun creating a gradient reflection. The material was a result of several years of testing and development.
The legend is available from sizes 2.9 to 6.1. For more information on the legend and the complete MauiSails lineup check out the MaiuSails.com.
